Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Our office is conveniently located at 150 BW Thomas Drive, Suite 103, Fort Mill, SC 29708. We welcome clients from Charlotte, NC and other York County areas. For your convenience, our initial consultation, final feedback conference, and interviews may be held virtually via phone or video chat.

Do schools accept our test results for IEPs or 504s?

Yes, schools typically accept our test results for IEPs or 504s. We use well-known and well-researched measures that are commonly used by surrounding school districts during their own assessments.

My child goes to school in NC, is it a problem to do testing in SC?

We have never had an issue with Charlotte, or other NC school districts accepting our test results. Our evaluations are conducted at our Fort Mill location, which is easily accessible from Charlotte and other York County areas.

What are the benefits to a private evaluation versus one through the school district?

Private evaluations offer many benefits over evaluations conducted by school districts. School districts often test only students identified as at-risk, so many evaluation requests by parents are declined. Additionally, evaluations conducted by school districts become part of educational records, while evaluations obtained and paid for privately only become part of a student’s educational records if the parent chooses to share the information. If you do choose to share the report with your child’s school, you may choose to redact any information you wish to keep private.

How do I know which evaluation suits my child?

Our online descriptions serve only as a guide. We understand that each child is unique and may have multiple areas of concern. Our team will assess your child’s needs during the initial intake conference and recommend a testing plan tailored to their individual needs.

How should my child and I prepare for testing day?

Depending on your child’s stamina and stage in development, testing will be completed in one (~3 hours) or two (~2 hours) in-person sessions. Testing days may be long. If testing is to be completed in one day, we will test for several hours in the morning, break for lunch for an hour, then resume testing in the afternoon. We suggest you send your child with a snack and a drink. We are currently a single office without a dedicated waiting room. Should you decide to wait, we are happy to set up several chairs in the hallway. We will also provide you with a list of local parks, activities, coffee shops, and other attractions if you choose to leave during testing.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that circumstances can change. We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Unless mutually agreed upon that the circumstance was an unforeseen emergency, a cancellation fee of $150 will be charged to the client’s credit card. We set aside an entire day for your appointment and re-booking of the appointment time slot is unlikely with little notice. We hope you understand the need for a cancellation fee.

Do you take my insurance?
